    Saddam's Torturers Allegedly Living as Refugees in Norway

OSLO, Norway, July 25 (UPI) -- Several men who allegedly carried out torture for Saddam Hussein are living as refugees in Norway, a media report said.

Norwegian Broadcasting, or NRK, says the men are members of Iraq's Baath Party and allegedly admitted to Norwegian authorities that they conducted attacks on Hussein's behalf, a report in Aftenposten said Monday.

Immigration officials declined to comment on the report, but a spokesman, speaking in general terms, said that temporary residence permission can be granted to people who carried out torture if they face torture themselves or the death penalty back in their homeland.

   ... just stop and think about this for a minute. Norway is willing to let these 'men' live in the midst of their own population as refugees rather than to either deport them back to justice or detain them for the sake of Norwegians.

                              I am shaking my head in disbelief.
