Zippy has decided to drop even the pretense of keeping his suggested 3000 troops in Iraq after his promised troop withdrawal - a good thing because they would have been sitting ducks when Iran marches in soon and march in soon they will.
There is nothing to stop them and their way will be blazed and paved by Muqtada al-Sadr - the mullah who fled to Tehran after we targeted him for killing our troops and leading a terror campaign within Iraq - targeting any who opposed his rise to total control of the country.
Having announced this to the world will only embolden Iran and it will be within a few months they come across the border - destroying all resistance and taking over all the oil infrastructure we have built or rebuilt at a terrible price - thousands of our young men and women are dead and many, many times more are scarred for life - not to mention the trillions of taxpayer dollars.
Zippy realized there would be blood on his hands and Americans would not accept that he stupidly left those too few troops to be overrun by incoming Iranian forces - visions of choppers pulling people off some rooftop in Iraq ala Vietnam would not help him get elected and he needs any help he can get. So he drops all pretense of even caring about Iraq.
Iraq won't have time to repay us - they won't even have time to relish their new found 'freedom' - they will go from tyrant to tyranny with but a brief interlude of the chaos of war - something they are quite used to doing since Winston Churchill idiotically 'created' the 'nation' in the mid 20th century. Those ink-stained blue fingers once held high with great pride and wonder will once again become hands dripping with blood.
There was another way. We could have left sufficient troops in Iraq to keep this from happening. The Iraqi 'opposition' to our troops could have been overcome had we a leader with vision beyond his next election and not constrained by rabid Marxist anti-colonialism and driven by the hunger for power. Barack Obama may think he's out of the frying pan regarding Iraq ...
... but when Iraq becomes Iran's and the refineries and infrastructure we built with American treasure are under the control of religious fanatics bent on securing the entire planet for Islamic domination - any and all future sanctions will have absolutely no effect and he and the rest of the world will find themselves in a nuclear oven.
