Above is an article from The Decatur Herald dated July 13, 1931. You see pictured my uncle, father and grandfather. This was the second kidnapping involving them - it was very big news back then - made all the papers in the country. I am named after either my grandfather or uncle and my father died before he could explain that. He always said he'd leave the answer in his will, but he must have forgotten. The only mention of me in that will was 'to be considered as previously deceased' - we were not close. I have decided to find the answer before I'm ancient history myself.
I suspect there are a few people who read this blog who may be able to help.

UPDATE: I was correct. Someone named 'Mary Swain' sent something to me last week. It is from a Texas vital statistics ledger circa 1949. I had never heard that my grandfather had a daughter at almost exactly the same time I was 'born'. He would have been 64 and his third wife nearly 36. Rather late in life to be having babies. I have never heard of a Carol Ann Turman. Curious. Anyone out there with any more ideas or information? Seems someone wants to help.
