Update on the Smartest Dog in the World

Mx
Today, at the crack of dawn, Mattie made just enough noise to let me know the Sun was coming up on a brand new day. I'm not really a 'morning person'. She's not either, but business is business and she has to 'go' about then and I am happy to take her out - even before I go pee - or have coffee. Stumbling sleepily along the street in my bathrobe and slippers, for all the world to see. One more day with Mattie is a glorious day and I do everything possible to make her happy.

Funny. My sister came over this morning for breakfast and I was in the kitchen just cooking away. Mattie was getting some very lean bacon, some chicken meat, some chicken broth, some special kibbles and some Egg Beaters. I made a nice doggie soup with the chicken stuff and kibbles, an omelet -  yes, I fold it it just like for a human, put the bits of bacon on the side. I walked through the room and showed it to my little sister - she looked at my creation and said, 'Oh, thank you, Steel'. I had to tell her it was for the dog.

She looked at me just a bit sideways and laughed and said, 'Geeze, she eats better than most humans'. I went back into the kitchen and finished. Her breakfast was nicely fried bacon ends (all lean), thin-sliced toasted rosemary/garlic bread with Boursin cream cheese, spinach & Boursin omelet with a nice dose of Parmesan, lightly sauteed chunks of potato with sweet peppers, onions, garlic and fresh cracked pepper. Served with coffee that's strong enough to serve itself.

We're all doing fine. Mattie especially. She has recovered from her stroke nicely. She is a fighter and at this point, you'd hardly know she had one. We do a lot of walking and checking pmail, She keeps an eye on me. She has staked out her territory hereabouts and it is something to behold - it's a good godamn thing we don't live in the sticks, otherwise, I'd need a scooter to keep up with her. My sister bought us a retractable leash today - 16ft - and that is more than enough. Mattie stays very close to me. That is my dirty sock she's sleeping on.

We're both doing pretty good and it is wonderful :)

Miniature omelets gone in one bite! You should take a picture of the breakfasts you make for her.
