Do we deserve THIS?
The retired general who asked about gays and lesbians serving in the military at the CNN/YouTube Republican debate on Wednesday is a co-chair of Hillary Clinton's National Military Veterans group.
Retired Brig. Gen. Keith H. Kerr was named a co-chair of the group this month, according to a campaign press release.
He was also active in John F. Kerry's 2004 campaign for president.
Kerr asked candidates “why you think that American men and women in uniform are not professional enough to serve with gays and lesbians.”
After the debate former Education Secretary Bill Bennett, said on a CNN panel that he was being told Kerr was involved with the Democratic presidential campaign of Clinton, a New York senator.
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, who moderated the debate and the panel, said that if that was the case, CNN should have identified Kerr as such.
David Bohrman, a CNN senior vice president and executive producer of the debate, later said: "We regret this, and apologize to the Republican candidates. We never would have used the general's question had we known that he was connected to any presidential candidate." Link
There's nothing no more confirming of the base nature of human beings than to watch a bunch of liberals caught in a lie. They scuttle back into the comfortable darkness of their collective deceit. CNN failed to even attempt due diligence or allowed this to happen, there is no other reasonable explanation. This notion of prescripted questions re Hillary Clinton is fast becoming a circus sans clowns. It smacks of manipulation on a grand scale and bodes ill for us all. The sad fact is that she will get away with it. Her supporters could not care less, and in fact, applaud her for employing whatever tactics necessary to win.
What you may NOT know is that the last and final Democratic debate has been cancelled. Yes, there was to be another debate in Los Angeles, hosted by Katie Couric, she of the recent condemnation of the Iraq invasion. Assumably much more friendly to Democrats than even the unbiased Tim Russert. The reason? Hillary Clinton said she would not cross the picket lines IF the news writer's union in Hollywood went on strike. Her opponents quickly jumped on that train in their haste to appease the union vote they so desire and the whole affair was called off. Her last appearance in that format, and her abyssmal and painfully pitiful performance, notwithstanding.
I've been thinking. Perhaps the office of President really IS just a mantlepiece, a prow on the ship of state. A figurehead who reads from scripted lines crafted by talented wordsmiths and appears as this nation's leader in name only. Maybe that's all the job demands. A glib and capable face to put on America. Certainly Bill Clinton was that. George Bush is not and now the sound bite generation longs for a return to those golden tongued days of yesteryear, when 'is' can be interpreted to mean whatever is 'is', 'was' or 'will be'. When words had no meaning beyond pander. When actions and deeds were not held to account. When what it sounds like or looks like is far more important than actual substance.
Do not forget that every people deserves that government which it tolerates. Hans Scholl, a leader of the Nazi resistance in WWII.

Ummm, what is that ribbon on the general's right breast? I don't think I have seen that one on a MILITARY uniform before.....

Ha Ha Ha.
And I was trying so hard to be subtle.
Good eye, amigo.

hahaha... Great catch, David.
My, how honorable can Mrs. Clinton get? She refuses to cross a picket line, and the other ducks fall right in line. God, please don't let this country not realize what she's done just to get out of having to go through another debate. What a noble witch.

I assumed you put that there.

Never under estimate the depths to which they are willing to sink. Never under estimate the voter's short-term memory and ignorance of most "voters". Most buy the rhetoric and cannot be bothered to look at the truth. Complacency will be our downfall.

Homosexuality has been around for ever.
Armies have been around for ever.
Why did it JUST become an issue of concern?

Who says it's an issue of concern? It has nothing to do with the fact that the Clinton's are snakes.

Good points, David. Governments/civilizations fall for four reasons: War from without, war from within, and when a government gives its people too little, and when a government gives its people too much. <--- The people become complacent. Therein lies the prey for outsiders to take over with little or no resistance.

I don't believe our government gives us too much, they take too much. We just happen to have become lazy. Any other explanation why Hillary has a shot at becoming the president?
I will once again suggest a great read. "Guns, Germs and Steel"

I wrote that book down last time you mentioned it. Our library didn't have it. I might have to hit up Amazon for it.
I think we're lazy, too. I also think we're so sick of government that we don't care anymore. That's even more dangerous than lazy. We are all susceptible to media propaganda, and that's some bad mojo. But in the end, I think we'd rally strong if our luxuries were threatened enough.
