                           Gunmen attack home of Gaza security chief

Gunmen stormed the home of a senior Palestinian security officer in Gaza on Tuesday, killing his bodyguard and stoking fears of renewed violence between Hamas Islamists and President Mahmoud Abbas's loyalists.

The governing Hamas movement said it had no part in the attack on the home of Nabil Tammous. He is a senior member of the Preventive Security Service, loyal to Abbas, and known to be at odds with Hamas.

Despite the Hamas denial, security sources from Abbas's camp said they still suspected attackers linked to the militant group that defeated the president's Fatah movement in January elections.

The security sources said gunmen stormed Tammous's house and shot one guard, then blew up the house. They said the gunmen captured three other guards and had taken them away.

Violence between armed Hamas and Fatah followers was largely put on hold last month when Israeli forces entered the Gaza Strip to try to recover a soldier captured in a raid by Hamas's armed wing and two other militant groups.

  Sooo, there's a lull in the fighting between them and their sworn enemy, the Zionists, and what do these crazy bastards do? Do they tend to their wounded? Do they resupply their comrades? Do they comfort the families of the dead? HELL NO!!! They get back to the business of killin' each other. That is the thing Palestinians do and do best - kill. If they cannot kill Jews, they will kill themselves. It could be the Sun and centuries of being out in it, but such has been the plight of many Arabs and they aren't f**king crazy. Nobody knows why they are thus, but everybody knows they are. This is the reason that no other Arab country has come to their aid in over 50 years. This is the reason, no other Arab country has offered to take in the 4 million Palestinians and end the conflict. Because the Palestinians are crazy and having ANYTHING to do with them leads to nothin' but trouble. The Arabs know this, the Jews know this and the sooner we learn this, the better. Palestinians have been wreaking havoc with peace and stability for over 2000 years - just ask the Romans. The best policy is containment, or in other words: QUARANTINE. Feed 'em, clothe 'em and they will kill each other until they're extinct. And I hate having to say that.

Abbas and Hamas had been caught up in a power struggle, with Hamas accusing Fatah of trying to handicap its government.

Abbas had been trying to push Hamas to soften its stand on Israel as a way to get Western countries to lift a crippling aid embargo designed to force the Islamist group to recognize the Jewish state, renounce violence and accept past peace accords.

The offensive in Gaza has badly battered Hamas government offices while Israel has arrested dozens of Hamas officials in the West Bank.  Link

I found it very ... amusing, let's say ... that as soon as Hamas won the parliamentary elections in January the first thing they did was storm the Parliament building and stage an armed take-over of it.

I think Israel Needs to look at this and ask GWB if he is willing to help every last citizen relocate to Wyoming. Just slice off a chunk and call it New Israel. I don't like giving up to the murders, but it would surely simplify things.

The commnets above sound good but that is not why Israel wants to live on that land. The historic landmarks of Jesus are there. If it was not for this I am sure the USA would welcome them with open arms and give them plenty of land and help them establish a new Israel and everything would be solved.

Yeah, but remember that they have already given up half of Jerusalem and the Gaza ... every time an Arab gets his hands on a Jewish landmark, they sully, destroy and erase it the best they can. The Taliban were just following the old habits.
