Action Taken to Conquer Conker Cheating
Children will be given conkers to use in the British Junior Championships amid fears that allowing them to use their own may lead to cheating.
The event, to be held at the Blackgang Chine theme park on the Isle of Wight on Sunday, has been "dogged" by controversy over doctoring in the past.

Budding Artist Exhibits His Short Comings
A man stripped off naked and declared himself a 'guest exhibit' at one of Germany's most respected museums.
It happened during an exhibition on antique pictures of Jesus Christ at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne.
According to visitors, Walter Hofmueller, 58, suddenly removed his clothes and climbed on to a table next to one of the pictures.
When the police arrived the man was still standing in the same position. He was arrested and charged with exhibitionism and breach of the peace.
Museum director Dr. Andreas Bluehm called the uninvited addition to his exhibition "regrettable" but added: "At least none of the real artworks were damaged." Ananova

SAN JOSE -- A woman apparently trying to steal copper wiring from a live electrical box at a vacant South Bay strip mall was electrocuted and burned over 50 percent of her body early Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the San Jose police, the woman suffered burns when she came in contact with some electrical wires at 3:04 a.m. near Meridian and Foxworthy avenues. She and her husband or boyfriend were allegedly tinkering with a transformer at the back of what once was the Challenger School.

She shook her head at the sad news, then turned to the stranger sitting next to her and asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"
Two blondes were filling up at a gas station when the first one said to the other, "I bet these awful gas prices are going even higher". The second blonde replies, "It won't affect me. I always buy exactly $10 worth".
Gypsy the dog becomes rail rover
An unwanted dog decided to let the train take the strain by embarking on a 300-mile trip to Scotland, according to animal welfare workers.
After running away from her home in Bangor, North Wales, lurcher Gypsy Rose caught a train to Crewe, another to Edinburgh and a third to Kirkcaldy.
The dog's owners, who had reported her missing, were eventually traced.
However, as she was being returned, they decided they no longer wanted her, so Gypsy needs a new home.

Turkeys Die in Turkey from Avian Flu
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - Turkey's agriculture minister confirmed the country's first cases of bird flu on Saturday and ordered the destruction of all birds in the village where it was detected to prevent the disease from spreading, the Anatolia news agency said.
Military police have also set up roadblocks at the village near Balikesir in western Turkey, 250 miles from Istanbul. The officers checked vehicles to make certain no birds were going in or out.

Robot Racers Ready to Go
It is a multi-million-dollar motor race across rough desert terrain, but the real prize could be fewer US casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Gathered in the car park of a casino in Nevada's Mojave desert, 23 self-navigating robot vehicles are competing in the 2005 Grand Challenge - the world's only driver-less car race, organised by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA, part of the US Department of Defense.
The town these robots are staging in has wild burros strolling the streets.
