Hollow
Hollow is a word defined in its first few connotations as,
1. having a cavity, gap or space within.
2. without substance or character.
3. devoid of truth or validity
Hollow is also a word that best describes the Left in this country today. Absent any direction or intent, save for the maligning of the oppositon, the Left plumbs ever further the depths of epithet, the abuse of reason and the total disregard for any reality save its own pursuit of power.
I want to believe the Left has some good intention, but with every day that belief becomes increasingly more difficult to maintain.
A passing glance at words spoken by the Left today contrasted with words spoken by the Left even yesterday, defies any but the most delusional in their acceptance, much less their veracity.
The longer the Left is without real political power, the more specious and acid their words become. This is apparent to even the most casual observer. And those 'casual' observers are legion. With every passing day, those legions grow. The Left is without limit in their ability to utter words and thoughts so abhorent, so vitriolic, so blatantly obscene it their hollowness that it shatters all pretense of what is considered right, proper and civil.
Aside from the tried and true outright lies the Left will tell, beyond the attempts to dupe those the Left assumes are too stupid to know, the Left has a special weapon it deploys at will.
No, not invective, distortion or fabrication - this weapon is at once the most harmful and hurtful of all.
I speak of that ugly, repugnant device known as 'personal attack'.
This form of assault can take many forms. It can be a slander of an opponent's religion. It might be some whispered inuendo or just an straight out defamation of one's morality or even their family.
The most onerous of all the tactics employed by the Left is racism.
Pure, unadulterated racism.
Michelle Malkin has seen all of these weapons fired at her. She addresses them or ignores them.
Michelle has had enough.
The Left has seen fit to attack her race, her nationality, her heritage - even her looks. But that is only the beginning of the extent to which the Left will go to attack her.
Now the Left is attacking her family.
The Left had better watch out. They will NEVER be the match of Michelle Malkin.
She will ring them like the hollow bell they are.

GREAT POST!!!

'OOOOH-Rah!" Michele
In "Enough" you served notice. Your fantastic and I read you daily. The more effective you are the worst the attacks come. It's unecessary for me to say the evident about the Left. Same stuff, different a-hole. (pardon me. Its the best surname for them)
Here's what I found to be some of the best 'you can't argue with these words, spin them as yous may.."
If there’s one thing a Lib hates is a independant female. What’s worse than that is one who has a brain and thinks on her own!!! That’s devastating to a Lib. Why, their Mullahs without the dress code!
These are the best words I can find for the Libs. It suits them to a tee:
Ecclesiastes:10:1-3
1: Dead flies can make a whole bottle of perfume stink, and a little stupidity can cancel out the greatest wisdom
2: A wise man’s heart {directs him} toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart {directs him} toward the left
3: Even when a fool goes walking, he has no sense and shows everyone else that he’s a fool.
Proverbs 18:2: “A fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in airing his own opinions.”
"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits". -Albert Einstein
Jessie and You make one heck-of-a Bloggin' Nuke to the Left Michelle. Never stop!!!! You are adored and appreciated!!!!! And 'Thank You " Jessie for your super-support!!!!!!!!!

I read Michelle's post this morning. I think she takes a more than her fair share of crap--I think it was Chris Matthews whose on-air treatment of her exposed him as the daft prick that he is.
Seems that when you're a conservative, all forms attack are fair game, but when you are a conservative who happens to be a woman and, gaassp, a minority, the left loses all sense of decorum and lets its unapologetic idiocy fly.
While I can understand her request--that her ideological counterparts leave her husband out of the debate--surely she is not surprised by this. I'm not.
Cheers,

In my lifetime, I can only recall one analogous period that contains the sort of vitriol Malkin and Barber are subjected to on a daily basis.
Mississippi in 1950.
Have you been down that way Moze? Not Texas, the real south.
The vestiges of that time are still there growing kudzu.
And the vestiges of that time remain in the lexicon of the Left.
You said you were shamed by them.
Moze, I am aghast of late.
We are truly locked in a battle to the death with terrorists on the outside and rabid dogs in our own backyard.
Lock and Load amigo. It ain't gonna get better anytime soon.

It'll get better. People have a serious saturation point for this kind of foolishness. Every pendulum has its swing...... it cannot be denied as it is in the hands of physics. Just be patient.
Even better - do yourself a favor and read The Pit and the Pendulum. whoa.

I have read Poe at least 10 times.
Can't say that about any other save Brautigan.
Posted by: Steel | 11/20/2005 at 02:55 PM
Yeah, but the irony of The Pit and the Pendulum is what is so delicious.
Posted by: Phoenix | 11/20/2005 at 03:31 PM
Yeah, but I will lose sight of the cyclical nature of things as the election approaches.
The Telltale Heart is more ironic no?
Posted by: Steel | 11/20/2005 at 03:36 PM
I made reference to a pendulum. Why would make a back-up reference to The Tell-Tale Heart?
You are such a weenie. No?

[In my lifetime, I can only recall one analogous period that contains the sort of vitriol Malkin and Barber are subjected to on a daily basis.]
I myself cannot... I was born in 1960. I grew up in an area that was as white as the winter snow. I never knew a black man or woman until I went to college. This makes me at once both un-biased and naive.
[Have you been down that way Moze?]
Yes, I have seen green bottle flies... Harrison, AK. Memphis. Nashville. Gulfport. Huntsville. Atlanta... apart from Nashville, no particular location for very long--but long enough to understand Lynrd Skynrd's objection to Neil Young's "Southern Man."
[kudzu]
I don't know how rampant that attitute is now... I haven't been down south for more than twenty years. Even through the prism of my limited understanding, I thought the problem had improved...
When I was about thirteen, my dad photo-copied the Civil Rights Act of 1964, put it in a three-ring binder, and gave it to me to read.
I remember understanding very little, but what I gleaned then revealed a world I did not understand: literacy tests for voting, race tests for Federal financial assistance... truly, the ideas in the Act were as foreign to me as slavery, and the realization that they addressed then-prevalent problems turned my young stomach then... and now...
If you click on some of the links in Michelle's post, you will read evidence that the vitriol and hatred that inspired the 1964 Civil Rights Act is alive and well-living in the U.S. Only the target has changed. In the 1950s and 60s, it was skin color. Today, it is political ideology and religion--and if your opponent has a "skin-color problem," so much the better...
[Lock and Load amigo...]
Done.
The beauty of it is the likes of Michelle Malkin and La Shawn Barber reduce her opposition to labotamized bed-wetters without loading a single round...
Posted by: Moze | 11/20/2005 at 09:55 PM
Hmmm ...
Moze, it seems as though we might be on the same side of that campfire.
1960 huh?
When you hit grade school, I hit Vietnam.
I'll bet I had more fun than you did.
There were no black folks in my small town growin' up.
None.
Not soes ya could see that is.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING pisses me off more than racism.
Michelle and La Shawn being beat up everyday makes me want to duct tape 2 magazines together and PULL the trigger on the bastards.
They deserve nothing less.

It's no secret that the country is polarized. Name calling, character assassination, etc. from both sides (admit it). But Malkin is working to reconcile.
Michelle's new book has the potential to help bridge the bitter gap between Republicans and Democrats. After reading this book, expect to see Dems and Repubs finding points on which to agree and form productive working relationships. Rather than insulting one another and fighting for power, representatives will work on bipartisan efforts in the best interests of the country. Ted Kennedy may ask the Roves to be godparents for his grandchildren. It may not seem like much, but this new book is the first step in that direction. Bravo!

[After reading [Michelle's] book, expect to see Dems and Repubs finding points on which to agree and form productive working relationships...]
Oh really? Agreement and productive relationships?
I guess you didn't read Michelle's "A Word that Starts with 'U'" post today, wherein she quotes a rant by an obviously angry Democrat. What does the rant advocate? That anyone who supported/supports the President kill themselves.
If the goal is agreement and productive relationships, how's that for a starting point?
Cheers,
