They Know Where You ARE!!!
The National Security Agency has been awarded a patent which will make it possible to find YOU if you are on the internet. Nevermind proxy servers, pirated WiFi or using someone else's computer. If you are on online ... THEY CAN COME KNOCKING ON THE DOOR!!!
NSA Patent Can Locate Internet Users
Users thinking they can hide anonymously may soon get an awakening.
On Sept. 20 the United States awarded patent 6,974,978. The patent was filed on December 29, 2000 by Stephen Mark Huffman and Michael Henry Reifer, with the assignee being United States of America as represented by the director of the National Security Agency.
According to the patent's abstract, the invention is a "Method for geolocating logical network addresses on electronically switched dynamic communications networks, such as the Internet, using the time latency of communications to and from the logical network address to determine its location.
"Minimum round-trip communications latency is measured between numerous stations on the network and known network addressed equipment to form a network latency topology map. Minimum round-trip communications latency is also measured between the stations and the logical network address to be geolocated. The resulting set of minimum round-trip communications latencies is then correlated with the network latency topology map to determine the location of the network address to be geolocated." UPI
...Now, doesn't that make you feel safer?

Oh, almost forgot ...
What you need to realize is ...
... this 'geolocation' can take place faster than you can blink your eyes.

Makes me feel better. I know it's right out of 1984, but tough. If I were a criminal, an Internet child molester, a terrorist, or anyone using the Internet with the intention of harming anyone, I might think this is a bad thing.
I don't.

I've been reading some comments about this on other sites. People are talking about shooting people and getting back at the government for this latest invasion of privacy. What is with all the frenetic paranoia? If you don't have anything to hide, what is the big deal? If you can't get past the privacy issue and the government minding your business, take a breath and look at it as just another side-effect of progress - something humanity will never stop. Progress always brings about some kind of moronic hysteria in the masses. This they're-out-to-get-us mentality is a bit puerile in an age when progress allows religious zealots the ability to level a city in three seconds a reality. Christ, people are so damned stupid. If your mindset cannot accomodate the new realities of progress, go back to Africa and find yourself a nice cave. Don't forget your cell phone that does a hundred different things. No guns, though. You have to make your own spear.

FOOLISH HUMAN!!!
The government has been trying to take over since 1836.
NOW they can get you NO MATTER where you are.
I'll keep my guns AND my explosives thank you very much.
THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!!!

I'm not a human. Can't you see? I am a Phoenix, and we know the Phoenix always rises again. Nice thing about her rising is that she doesn't need to claim some incorporeal entity like THE SOUTH to enable her resurrection. She doesn't need guns and hysteria and paranoia to make it happen either.
But to address your wailing: Who is THEY ?? When is NOW ?? What has the government been trying to take over since 1836 ? Your pitiful little life? MY pitiful little life? Get real... as if THEY can be bothered with such as us. Hmm... Now that I look, maybe THEY will look at YOU considering you are publicly screeching about your guns AND explosives. ha ha ha.... Talk about fools....
